Harding Meyer

Harding Meyer is a painter that takes small photos of unknown catalog and magazine models into oversize, close-up oil portraits. I love Meyer's work, the distortion to the face makes the model look creepy yet beautiful.

Nina Levy

Nina Levy is a sculpture artist that sculpts heads of people and hangs them from the ceiling. The heads are life like and are made life sized although some are enormous. I like her portrait sculptures because they are different and very creepy to look at.

Karel Funk

Inspired by New York's crowded subway Karel Funk created portraits by never showing the person's eyes and instead painting their backs of the head and their hoods. The most important thing about a portrait of someone is seeing their face. How their eyes portray their emotions, but Karel Funk took that away and instead drew people's hooded figure never really showing their eyes creating a mystery. It's one of the reasons I love this series of art.

Brian Lewis Sanders

A self portrait artist that created a self portrait everyday in his life for the last 20 years. He has put his work into different categories on his website like; anxiety, blind, love, and pain. This is one of my favorite portrait artist he really put a twist on creating a self portrait everyday of his life. He didn't just looked into the mirror everyday and drew his face but he showed what kind of emotions he was feeling that day.
